There is an extremely cool video over at Engadget showing of the new Motorola Atrix which was announced at CES.

The ability to use your phone as the hub of your computer was something I was discussing with friends when the iPhone was first released. Looks like the Atrix is the first real (and useable) device that is built with this kind of functionality in mind, Motorola have even gone as far as making a pretty slick looking laptop shell for it as well.

There are drawbacks with this kind of computing though, what if you drop and break your phone? What if your phone is stolen? You're carrying a pretty expensive piece of hardware in your pocket so there is a heightened risk that needs to be worked around.

You could say the cloud is the key, keep everything sync’d and then there is no need to worry, for me a cloud only solution just does not work, I'm more of a believer in the hybrid model - local storage & computation for all internal business communications & cloud for everything else.

Either way I'm really impressed with the Atrix and will be seriously thinking about making a move to it when my current contract is finished.
